The Information, Communication and Media Center ( IKMZ ) is a facility of the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Senftenberg at the Cottbus location . It serves as a library , multimedia and computer center and supports the university's internal data processing.

The university library has over 1 million media, over 580 current journals as well as over 22,000 electronic journals and almost 100,000 digital documents (CD ‐ ROM, DVD, e ‐ books). The IKMZ also houses around 600 workstations for library visitors on one underground and seven above-ground floors.

A large part of the literary works of the architecture critic Ulrich Conrads is in the Ulrich Conrads archive of the library.

architecture

The building was designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron . As a result of their 2nd prize in the campus master plan competition, they were awarded the contract to build the new library in 1998. The building was completed in 2004 and won the following awards:

The facade consists entirely of glass, which is printed in a disorderly manner with white letters.
