Engineers for Communication eV ( IfKom ) is a German engineering organization for specialists and executives from the communication and telecommunications sector . As a professional association, IfKom eV is the largest professional association for communication engineers in Europe. The association is open to all engineers and students from diploma , bachelor 's and master' s degrees at universities and colleges as well as sponsoring members from the telecommunications and information technology sectors. The focus of the association's work is the career advancement of the members. IfKom eV has around 5,000 members today. Heinz Leymann has been federal chairman since 2007.

history
The association, founded in 1923, was called VDPI (Association of German Post Engineers) until 1999 and was essentially reserved for employees of the former Deutsche Bundespost . With the opening of the telecommunications market, this definition became obsolete. The association has been open to all engineers in the communications industry since 1999. The association magazine is the Funkschau .

The association is a member of the central association of engineering associations . Ifkom eV has a cooperation with eco, the Association of the German Internet Industry. IfKom cooperates with the association The Executives and is part of its association network.
The association should be available in a neutral and open manner for the communication engineers of all telecommunications companies.
