Detlev Albers

Detlev Albers (born November 13, 1943 in Goslar ; † May 31, 2008 in Bremen ) was a German political scientist , university professor and former SPD state chairman in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .

He became known, among other things, through an action in which he and his fellow student Gert Hinnerk Behlmer unrolled the banner " Under the gowns - Muff of 1000 years " on the occasion of the handover of the rectorate at the University of Hamburg on November 9, 1967 .

education

Albers graduated from high school in Hamburg in 1963 and studied law and social sciences first in Bonn and then in Hamburg . He was chairman of the Hamburg AStA from 1966/1967 and advocated the so-called third parity between professors, the academic mid-level staff and the students with regard to co-determination at German universities. After the first state examination in law (1969), he was a research associate at the Hamburg research center of the Association of German Scientists, headed by Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker , from 1969 to 1972 . In 1973/1974 he worked for Horst Kern as a research assistant at the social science seminar of the Technical University of Hanover and received his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin with a thesis on the cause and course of social conflicts, illustrated using the example of the Italian strike movement 1968–1971 for Dr. phil.

At the end of 1974 Albers received an assistant professorship, then a professorship in the political science course at the University of Bremen . 1977–1981 he was vice rector of the University of Bremen, 1983–1985 spokesman for the human and social sciences department and responsible for teaching in the 1992/1993 course. In 1986 Albers became a board member of the Academy for Labor and Politics (until 1993) and in 1992 a member of the conversion advisory board in the state of Bremen (until 1996). In 2001 he founded the Bremen Forum for European Regional Policy (BFER) at the Institute for Political Science and took over its management.

In 2004 he founded the electronic journal Social Europe Journal (SEJ) and worked as its editor-in-chief until his death.

Albers had been a member of the SPD since 1966, from 1987 to 1995 a member of the advisory board of Bremer Neustadt . From 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the federal executive committee of the SPD. From 1993 to 2004 he was a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Bremen , from 1995 to 2004 as Bremen state chairman . Albers was a member of the SPD Party Council and the SPD Fundamental Values ​​Commission until his death. He was also involved in the 2007 SPD basic program , the Hamburg program .

Albers died of a stroke at the age of 64 . At the funeral in Bremer Church of Our Lady held Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul , Böhrnsen and his old classmate, a former Hamburg State Culture Gert Hinnerk Behlmer, the speeches.

His brother Kersten Albers is chairman of the Friends of the Museum of Labor in Hamburg.
