Inger Andersen

Inger La Cour Andersen (born May 23, 1958 in Jerup , Denmark ) is a Danish economist and ecologist .

Life

Inger Andersen is the daughter of Aagot la Cour Andersen and Erik Andersen. She is the granddaughter of the Danish historian and archaeologist Vilhelm la Cour . Her brother is Hans la Cour , who is known as a writer, filmmaker and sailor.

In 1977 she received her Abitur at Midtfyns Gymnasium. Andersen earned her BA from the Polytechnic of North London (now London Metropolitan University) in 1981 and her Masters from the School of Oriental and African Studies in 1982 .

Since January 2015 she was Director General of the IUCN nature conservation organization .

Andersen has been Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program since February 2019 .
