Ingo Berensmeyer

Ingo Berensmeyer (* 1972 ) is a German Anglicist .

Life

From 1992 to 1998 he studied English literature , English linguistics and comparative literature at the University of Siegen and English and Irish literature from 1994 to 1995 at University College Galway . After completing his MA in English literature, English and comparative literature in Siegen in 1998 and his PhD in 1999 (Dr. phil.) Summa cum laude in English, American and comparative literature there, he was a research assistant at the Leibniz Center for Literature and Literature from 1999 to 2000 Cultural research and guest lecturer at the Free University of Berlin . From 2001 to 2002 he was a postdoc and lecturer at the University of Siegen. From 2002 to 2003 he was a postdoctoral fellow ( J. Hillis Miller ) at the University of California, Irvine . After completing his habilitation in English and comparative literature in 2005 at the University of Siegen, he taught as an associate professor for English at the University of Ghent from 2006 to 2008 . From 2008 to 2018 he taught as a full professor for English and American literature at JLU Giessen . In 2009 he was visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee . Since 2008 he has been visiting professor of English at Ghent University. Since 2018 he has been a full professor of modern English literature at LMU Munich .

His focus is on English literature of the 16th, 17th and 20th centuries, literary theory and aesthetics as well as the study of authors and book history.
