Ingo Meyer (literary scholar)

Ingo Meyer (* 1968 ) is a German literary scholar and editor.

Life

Meyer studied literature, sociology, history and philosophy in Bielefeld, Berlin, Bochum and Bonn. In 2004 he was awarded his dissertation at Bielefeld University with the 'Banne derreality'? PhD studies on the problem of German realism and its narrative-symbolist strategies .

Meyer completed his habilitation in 2015 with a thesis on Georg Simmel's aesthetics in Bielefeld. He regularly publishes articles in the magazine Merkur and in the Georg Simmel Society ( Simmel Studies ). Meyer is a private lecturer for modern German studies and general literature at Bielefeld University .

Ingo Meyer sees the German novel of the present in an unnecessary, but self-generated crisis. In 2014 he complained that especially since the turn of the millennium, the form of most of the literary works in Germany had become "wobbly".
