Ingo Oeser

Ingo Oeser (born April 1, 1930 in Hamburg , † 1998 in Berlin ) was the first and last ambassador of the GDR to the European Community in Brussels from 1988 .

Career

After studying law, Ingo Oeser initially worked in the GDR's trade mission in the Republic of Cyprus , most recently as its head. There he paved the way for diplomatic recognition of the GDR by the government under President Archbishop Makarios and was recalled in 12/1966.

From 1969 to 1972 Oeser worked in the GDR Foreign Ministry as head of the Western Europe department. From 1973 to 1979 the lawyer with the rank of ambassador headed the GDR delegation to the Vienna disarmament negotiations ( MBFR ) and then from 1980 to 1983 took part in the CSCE disarmament negotiations in Madrid. Diplomatic relations between the GDR and the EC were established on August 15, 1988 through an exchange of notes .
