Ingrid Ragnvaldsdatter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ingrid Ragnvaldsdatter was the daughter of the Swedish King Ragnvald and probably the granddaughter of King Inge I the Elder (* before 1080; † after 1101) and his wife Helena.

Life

Ingrid was married four times:

  1. Prince Henrik Skadelår († 1134), son of Prince Svend Svensson and grandson of King Sven Estridsson . She fled her husband with a lover and was picked up in Aalborg and brought back. She had his sons Magnus Henriksson (around 1160 King of Sweden), Regnald Henriksson, Knud Henriksson († 1162; Danish Duke) and Buris Henriksson († around 1167; Danish Prince).
  2. King Harald Gille († 1136). From him she had the son Inge Krogrygg , King of Norway.

Extramarital affair with Ivar Sneis from Oppland , from whom she had the son Orm Ivarsson.

  1. Vassal Ottar Birting
  2. Lean Arne Ivarsson (Kongsmaag) from Ståreim (Nordfjord). With him she had the sons Philip Arnesson von Herdla, Nikolas Arnason , Bishop of Oslo, Inge Arnesson and the daughter Margrete Arnesdatter, mother of the Bagler King Philipp Simonsson .

Remarks

  1. The name is uncertain. According to the article Helena in: Svensk Biografisk Lexikon , she is identical to "Mær" (maiden), who is called Frau Inges in the Hervarar saga . “Mær” as a name is otherwise not known. See Safn til sögu Íslands og íslenzkra bókmenta . Volume 3. Copenhagen 1902, p. 642. It is also not certain whether Ragnvald was actually Inges I's son (see Ragnvald . In: Svensk biografisk Lexikon ).
