The Profisport Deutschland Initiative (IPD) is an association of large professional sports organizers in Germany.

organization

The founding members of the IPD are the collecting societies of the four largest German professional leagues: Beko Basketball Bundesliga GmbH (Beko BBL) ( Basketball Bundesliga ), DEL Deutsche Eishockey Liga Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (DEL) ( German Ice Hockey League ), DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH ( DFL) ( Bundesliga ) and TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga GmbH (TOYOTA HBL) ( Handball-Bundesliga ).

According to their own statements, the leagues of the collecting societies involved in the initiative have almost 50 million fans and a cumulative TV reach of over 9 billion viewers per season. Every year, 23.3 million people visit the stadiums and event venues in which 123 teams in 96 cities with around 2,800 players organize around 2,400 games. They achieve a total turnover of over 2.2 billion euros per year (as of 2009).

aims

The initiative carries out public relations and lobbying work in Berlin , Brussels and the state governments in order to politically promote common concerns. According to the IPD, "it should also be possible in the future to train and provide strong players for the national teams, to engage in and finance youth and youth work and to meet the social responsibility of professional leagues in financing amateur sport".
