Socialist Forum Initiative

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Socialist Forum Initiative (ISF) is an anti-German group from Freiburg im Breisgau that has existed since 1981 . It is based on the Frankfurt School and council communist concepts. The ISF was founded by former members of the Socialist Bureau , who were later joined by members of the GIM and the Nonviolent Action Freiburg. Every semester she offers jour fixe lectures in Freiburg.

Association and publisher

The association that supports the Socialist Forum initiative is the Institute for Social Criticism Freiburg (ISF) eV . He has also been running the Freiburg-based ça ira publishing house since 1985, which publishes its own writings as well as the works of a wide range of authors who are materialistic and critical of ideology . Despite the formal legal spin-off of the publishing house in 2000, the tax office withdrew its non-profit status from ISF eV in 2005 due to the continued regular donations to the publishing house .

Dispute with Café Palestine Freiburg

At the end of 2013 there was a dispute with the anti-Israel group Café Palestine , which is based in Freiburg and is a member of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions ( BDS ). The chairman of the association of the same name is Gabi Weber, who Joachim Bruhn described in the Badische Zeitung as an accomplice of neo-Nazis. For a long time, both groups, the ISF and the café, shared an event space, the Café Jos Fritz , in the Freiburg Spechtpassage. After the ISF organized an event with the publicist Henryk M. Broder under the title "Café Judenhaß" in the Spechtpassage , the operators of the Jos Fritz Café pronounced an event ban. Subsequently, according to the ISF, their premises, which were also located in the Spechtpassage, were terminated. The dispute was preceded by an event by Café Palestines with British jazz musician and political activist Gilad Atzmon . The ISF then wrote a leaflet and asked Café Jos Fritz to end the “anti-Zionist propaganda headquarters”. “Café Palestine is completely wrongly named. Café Anti-Israel would be more appropriate, because the content and aim of its events is to denounce Israel, as its previous activities and lectures show. "
