The Institute for Breathing Gas Analysis is an institute of the University of Innsbruck . It was founded as a non-university research facility of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) in Dornbirn; In 2006 as a research center and converted to an institute in 2010. On February 1, 2014, the institute was transferred to the University of Innsbruck and incorporated into the Faculty of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Since January 1st 2017 it belongs to the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Research priorities

The aim of the institute is to develop breathing gas analysis for medical diagnostics.

The institute was headed by Anton Amann until November 2014 . The current director of the institute is Christopher Mayhew (from November 21, 2016).
