The Institute for Air and Refrigeration Technology ( ILK Dresden ) is an independent, non-university research institution in the legal form of a non-profit company mbH. The ILK Dresden conducts industry- related research , development and technology transfer in the specialist fields and application areas of air and refrigeration technology as well as other applied technologies, including the corresponding scientific and technological areas.
history
After the division of the Institute for Chemical and Refrigeration Equipment in 1963, the Institute for Air and Refrigeration Technology was founded in the GDR by recruiting young engineers until 1964 . The research and development tasks of the ILK were very diverse and not only focused on the more than 20 companies of the combine air and refrigeration technology, but also on all companies in the branch, but also on users in industry, agriculture and cultural institutions. This broad range of activities resulted in an integration philosophy for air and refrigeration technology, from cryotechnology to refrigeration and air conditioning technology to material and filter technology , which has survived all the centralization confusions of the GDR. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a non-profit research company was founded in 1990.
The sole shareholder of the ILK Dresden is the non-profit association for the promotion of air and refrigeration technology. The purpose of the association is to promote the dissemination of the latest scientific achievements in the ILK specialist areas as well as the promotion of young scientists.
Research and Development
The ILK Dresden comprises different technology areas in which research and development work is carried out in an interdisciplinary team of engineers, chemists and physicists.
Cryogenics and low temperature physics
The ILK's main area of cryogenics and low temperature physics researches the development of cryocoolers, Millikelvin cooling systems and cryotechnical components, the research of material properties at low temperatures as well as in cryobiotechnology , especially in the cryopreservation of biosystems and in cryomedicine.
Refrigeration and heat pump technology
The ILK main area of refrigeration and heat pump technology researches and develops energy-efficient and innovative processes and devices for generating refrigeration in a wide temperature range, from deep freezing to air conditioning and heat pump technology .
Ventilation and air conditioning technology
The ILK's main area of ventilation and air conditioning develops novel solutions for energy-efficient and innovative products and processes in the wide range of technologies for air treatment.
The ILK technologies include the field of technical building equipment / ventilation technology , in particular heating technology , ventilation technology , air conditioning technology and the field of air pollution control with air filter technology and exhaust gas cleaning .
Applied materials technology
The ILK's main area of Applied Materials Technology has its core competencies in the field of refrigeration and ventilation working materials , their stability and compatibility with materials, measurement / control and regulation technology of complex plant systems, leak detection / tightness testing and photovoltaic applications .
Applied energy technology
In the ILK's main area of applied energy technology , novel solutions for energy-efficient and innovative products and processes in the fields of refrigeration and heating technology are developed in the context of complex energy systems.
