The Institute for Codetermination and Management (IMU) is an institute of the Hans Böckler Foundation that was founded in early 2018. The seat of the Institute is Dusseldorf . The scientific director of the IMU is Daniel Hay.

history

The Hans Böckler Foundation (HBS) is a co-determination, research and study funding organization of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB). After the Institute for Economic and Social Sciences (WSI), which was incorporated into the HBS in 1995, and the Institute for Macroeconomics and Business Cycle Research (IMK) in 2005, the Institute for Codetermination and Corporate Management is another institute of the HBS. It was founded on January 1st, 2018.

Tasks and activities

The Institute for participation and corporate governance advice and qualified employee representatives in co-determined supervisory boards , operating and staff councils and labor directors . It offers a platform for professional exchange. The IMU annually organizes the “Böckler Conference for Supervisory Boards”, which is attended by around 300 participants, and operates the online platform “Mitbestungsportal”.

The IMU also publishes studies on relevant topics of co-determined corporate management. These include, for example, studies on the salaries of DAX board members, financial investors, corporate strategies, the quota of women on supervisory boards and works council elections. Research projects are carried out with partners such as the Berlin Science Center for Social Research and the University of Duisburg-Essen .

On the basis of research results and advisory activities, the IMU publishes regularly in various series of publications.

Publication series

  • The codetermination report gives an overview of current topics of codetermination with data, facts and recommendations for action (for example ISSN  2364-0413 ).
  • The codetermination practice offers special practical aids for supervisory boards, works councils and personnel managers (for example ISSN  2366-0449 ).
  • In the Study series , current research results, in particular practical examples of company and service agreements, are documented (for example ISBN 978-3-86593-301-0 ).
  • The IMU Policy Brief connects issues of employee participation with the political agenda and shows political scope for action.
