Inter-University Research Institute Corporation

Inter-University Research Institute Corporation ( Japanese 大学 共同 利用 機関 法人 , Daigaku Kyōdō Riyō Kikan Hōjin, literally: "Corporation for the cooperation of universities") is a Japanese corporation (under public law), which according to § 2 para. 3 of "Law on State Universities" ( 国立 大学 法人 法 , English National University Corporation Act ) was created with the aim of enabling interdisciplinary research and collaboration between universities. As an umbrella organization, the corporation in turn comprises four corporations to which individual national institutions belong as legal persons .

The research facility founded in 1974, which serves as a state measure, for example through the acquisition and maintenance of mainframe and measuring systems or the collection and preservation of valuable documents and historical sources, to support and promote scientific research, especially if the costs and expenses for individual universities and research institutions are unreasonably high. According to the underlying law, the support is only given national, i.e. H. state, but not private universities and research institutions. The allocation of support is broken down by institution in the implementing provisions of the law. The distribution key is used to develop research in all fields of the natural sciences and humanities.

In addition to the nationwide state universities and research institutions, the body also serves to train students at the national "Graduate University for Interdisciplinary Research" ( 総 合 研究 大 学院 大学 Sōgō kenkyū daigakuin daigaku, English Graduate University for Advanced Studies ). She is also the point of contact for interdisciplinary research with private institutions.
