history

In December 2007, VDV President Wilfried Grunau and the then DVW President Hagen Graeff met in Hamburg for a first confidential conversation to discuss how to work together more intensively within geodesy. The talks continued in loose succession and in February 2010 the representatives of BDVI (Volkmar Teetzmann, Rudolf Wehmeyer, Michael Zurhorst), DVW (Hagen Graeff, Christof Rek, Karl-Friedrich Thöne) and VDV (Wilfried Grunau, Burkhard Kreuter ) in Siek (Holstein) and agreed the future cooperation in a 7-point program ( Sieker declaration ). The meetings of the three heads of the association have continued annually since then. As a result, the platform for young talent was implemented and various positions on the common job description and the Geodesy umbrella brand were published, and the establishment of the Geodesy Academy was agreed. On the occasion of INTERGEO 2013 in Essen, the official agreement to form the Geodesy Community of Interest (IGG) was signed.
