The Association of German Surveying Engineers e. V. ( VDV ) is a professional association for engineers in geodesy and geoinformatics . The association, founded in 1949, has around 6500 members (as of August 2015).

history

The VDV was founded on March 25, 1949 as the Association of German Engineers and Technicians in Surveying in Essen . On January 1, 1958, it was renamed the Association of German Surveying Engineers.

organization

The VDV is divided into the federal association, the regional associations and the districts. The head office is in Wuppertal .

The president of the VDV is Wilfried Grunau. Further members of the executive committee are the managing director Burkhard Kreuter, the treasurer Michael Kilian and the secretary Anja Dyx. Vice-presidents are Ullrich Wille and Frank Pöhlmann. (As of 2017)

activities

The VDV represents its members on professional-political and subject-related issues and is involved in the structural design of the German surveying system. Another important purpose of the association is professional development. For this purpose there is the independent educational organization VDV, recognized as a non-profit . The Bildungswerk conducts advanced training events in various specialist groups.

Publications

The association magazine VDVmagazin appears 6 times a year and is free of charge for members. On May 1, 1950, the first issue appeared under the title Der Fluchtstab . When the association was renamed on January 1, 1958, the magazine was also renamed Der Vermessungsingenieur . On January 1, 2006 the name was changed to VDVmagazin .

The VDV series of publications appears in loose succession , in which specialist articles on current topics are summarized and published.

According to the rules of honor of the VDV, the association can honor public figures with the award of the golden lot who have made a special contribution to the goals of the association. The founder and designer of the Golden Lot is Wolfgang Kramer (Honorary Chairman of the Cologne District).
