Manfred Weisensee

Manfred Weisensee (* 1959 in Friedberg ) is a German geodesist , university professor and, since September 2015, president of Jade University in Lower Saxony .

Life

Weisensee studied geodesy at the TU Berlin and the TU Darmstadt. From 1985 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Photogrammetry and Cartography at the TU Darmstadt , where he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. received his doctorate. He then worked there and at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research until 1997 .

In 1997 Weisensee was appointed professor for cartography and geoinformatics at the Oldenburg University of Applied Sciences. From 1999 to 2001 he was Dean of the Surveying Department and from 2005 Vice President of the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg / Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven (until 2009) and its successor, the Jade University. He was responsible for various departments, most recently for equality, further education as well as research and transfer. On September 1, 2015, Weisensee assumed the office of President of Jade University.

Manfred Weisensee was President of the German Society for Cartography eV DGfK - Society for Cartography and Geomatics from 2011 to 2019 . From 1999 to 2018 Weisensee was a scientific advisor to VDVmagazin, the magazine of the Association of German Surveying Engineers (VDV).

  • 1994 Prize from the Ernst-Ludwigs-Hochschulgesellschaft of the TU Darmstadt for excellent scientific achievements
