Interest group for paper raw materials

The paper raw materials interest group , IG Paro for short , was a registered association in Germany for recovered paper from 2007 to 2009 , in which recovered paper collectors, sorters and marketers were united. The interest group was founded with the aim of bringing the international importance of waste paper into the public eye and being available as a competent point of contact for both politics and the paper industry . On July 15, 2009, IG Paro ceased its activities for economic reasons.

Members and committees

The members included suppliers within the waste paper disposal periphery. The association was founded in 2007 by seven founding members:

  • Fehr Group
  • Remondis
  • Tönsmeier with wpt Waste Paper Trade
  • Southwest raw material
  • Melosch, Hamburg
  • Trapp, Frankfurt am Main
  • Kühl group of companies

The interest group was led by its members. This particular presidium and subsequently the management.

The Presidium of the Paper Raw Materials Interest Group consisted of the President and up to three Vice-Presidents. It had the task of coordinating all affairs of the interest group and determining the guidelines for association policy and association work. The last president of the interest group was Rolf Kühl (Kühl group of companies) and the last vice-president was Hans-Jürgen Cierzon (Trapp).

The managing director, Werner Templin, ran the day-to-day business of the interest group. For this purpose, the association maintained an office in Frankfurt am Main, which was managed by the managing director.

Goals and Activities

The interest group undertook professional lobbying for the national and international paper industry . The aim was to deal with the industry about new technologies, for example in the collection or processing of waste paper. Topics such as the waste shipment regulations , more participation in legislative projects and ordinances as well as regulations on municipal waste paper were the focus of political lobbying at EU, federal and state level. In addition, IG Paro also felt committed to issues such as environmental protection , resource conservation , sustainability and climate protection .

The interest group offered members and interested guests the opportunity to participate in expert knowledge through seminars and European themed evenings. Seminars on topics such as commercial waste paper collection were part of the offer. The contact to German members of the Bundestag and members of the European Parliament who have specialized in waste paper and related areas were regularly on the program as part of the themed evenings of the interest group.
