Martirano Lombardo is an Italian city in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria with 1016 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Martirano Lombardo is located 58 km northwest of Catanzaro on the Savuto River . The neighboring municipalities are Aiello Calabro ( CS ), Cleto (CS), Conflenti , Lamezia Terme , Martirano , Nocera Terinese , San Mango d'Aquino and Falerna .

Most of the residents are employed in agriculture. Olives, fruit and wine are produced.

Attractions

The lower part of the village was founded by people from Lombardy in 1905 after the earthquake . The ruins of old Martirano and the remains of the medieval castle and the former cathedral are worth seeing. In the Church of Immacolata there are paintings from the 17th century. The Rosary Church has an 18th century portal.

There are sulphurous and ferrous springs in the area.
