With the name Savuto DOC , white , rosé and red wines are produced in the Italian provinces of Cosenza and Catanzaro , region of Calabria . The denomination has had the status of a DOC since 1975 , which was updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

According to the denomination, cultivation is permitted in the following communities:

The following grape varieties are required for production :

  • Savuto Bianco: 0–40% Montonico , 0–30% Chardonnay , Greco bianco 0–20%, Malvasia bianca 0–10% and a maximum of 45% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Calabria region may be added .
  • Savuto Rosso and Savuto Rosato: 0–45% Gaglioppo (locally also called "Arvino"), 0–45% Aglianico , 0–10% Greco Nero and / or Nerello Cappuccio (individually or together) and a maximum of 45% other red grape varieties, that are approved for cultivation in the Calabria region may be added.
