Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is hairy with white wool and the tips are colored carmine red. The yellowish, bronze-colored speckled young leaves are still slightly woolly hairy.
  • The medium-sized leaves are three to five-lobed and indented to a medium depth. The stalk bay is U-shaped open to lyren-shaped closed. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are set medium-wide compared to other grape varieties.
  • The conical to pyramidal grapes are medium-sized and have dense berries. The round berries are medium-sized and bluish-black in color.

The grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late in international comparison. In Sicily, the harvest takes place in early to mid-October.

The vigorous variety produces consistently good yields.
