Torre di Ruggiero is an Italian city in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria with 972 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Torre di Ruggiero is located 56 km southwest of Catanzaro at the foot of Monte Cucco. The neighboring municipalities are Capistrano ( VV ), Cardinale , Chiaravalle Centrale , San Nicola da Crissa (VV), Simbario (VV) and Vallelonga (VV). The districts are Case Incenzo and Logge.

Attractions

The historic town center is worth seeing. Prince Filangieri's palazzo dates from the 18th century. There are two ruins of former Basilian monasteries near the village . The parish church of Maria Santissima delle Grazie collapsed during the 1783 earthquake . It was rebuilt in 1858 and is now a place of pilgrimage.
