Montauro is an Italian city in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria with 1751 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Montauro is located 30 km south of Catanzaro on the western slope of Serre . The neighboring municipalities are Gasperina , Montepaone , Palermiti , Squillace and Stalettì .

Attractions

The parish church originally dates back to antiquity, but was restored after being destroyed. In the vicinity are the ruins of the S. Domenico Monastery, which was destroyed in the 1783 earthquake .
