The International Basketball Academy Munich / International Basketball Academy Munich (IBAM) was founded in 2009 under the name Team Basket München Nord (TBMN) and has been run as an academy since 2015.

The aim is to train young talents for a professional career in basketball and to introduce them to the professional field.

The youth performance teams of the under 19-year-olds (U19) and under 16-year-olds (U16) are organized and promoted under the IBAM UG. Under these conditions, the Academy offers scholarships for young talents and places in their own shared apartments . The apartments are located in the Schwabing district of Munich near the English Garden , next to the training hall at Ursulastraße 3. The Morawitzkyhalle at Morawitzkystrasse 6 serves as a home hall for games.

successes

The players are registered with the MTSV Schwabing eV sports club and were able to establish themselves in the national leagues : the U16s in the JBBL (youth basketball league) and the U19s in the NBBL (youth basketball league). In the 2016/17 season, the U19s became German runners-up.

Several IBAM players have been appointed to national teams, have been named NBBL AllStars or have switched to professional leagues or to a US college (e.g. Joshua Obiesie , Fynn Fischer and Oscar Da Silva, among others).

The head coach of the NBBL team and sports director of IBAM Robert Scheinberg was appointed head coach for higher-level teams, such as coach of the U19 All Star Team South and for the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament (also known as Adidas Next Generation Tournament), the unofficial U18 European Championship.
