The International Boxing Union (IBU) is a boxing association founded in Atlanta , Georgia , USA , in 1996 , which organizes official fights and awards the IBU world title in professional boxing. In relation to the four large internationally recognized associations, the IBU is a small, insignificant association. It should not be confused with the former, also global and insignificant association , which was founded in Ghent , Belgium in 1913 and dissolved in 1946 and had the same name.
