International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) is an organization of evangelical students with the aim of spreading the gospel . The aim is to establish indigenous and independent evangelical student movements in every country where there is university education.

The administration is located in Oxford ( England ).

history

In 1947 people from Australia, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada, China, France, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and the USA met in Boston, USA with the aim of strengthening evangelism among students around the world. By the end of the 20th century, IFES had grown into an organization of local movements in 140 countries.

activities

Every four years representatives of all member movements meet for the “World Assembly”. Regional conferences are organized for students every few years. There is a “European Student Evangelism Conference” in Europe and Eurasia. Conferences of this kind took place in Linz , Austria, in 2008 and 2012 in Győr , Hungary, and in Aschaffenburg , Germany in 2000 and 2017 .

The organization also offers summer and annual teams. These consist of undergraduate students and recently graduated academics. They help set up student movements in Europe and Eurasia during their vacation or academic year. They do basic building work or support movements that have already been established.
