International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The INWES (International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists) is an umbrella organization which networks organizations and institutions of women engineers and natural scientists. Since 1964 there has been an international conference series for women engineers and scientists ICWES (International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists), which was supported by the International Continuing Committee (ICC). At the UNESCO World Science Conference in Budapest in 1999, a resolution was passed which, building on the ICC, led to the founding of INWES.

There is also a German participation in the INWES network, such as B. the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft , which has been a member of INWES since 2008. The German Association of Women Engineers is even one of the founding members of INWES.

The goal of INWES is to positively influence science, technology and mathematics worldwide. It is also intended to increase the number of women in these areas and to promote the exchange of information on a global and regional level.
