The International Petroleum Investment Company , or IPIC for short, is a state-owned company in the United Arab Emirates based in Abu Dhabi .
The company was founded in 1984 with a portfolio of $ 1 billion. It is responsible for all foreign investments by the Emirates in the oil and chemical industry. It is controlled by the Supreme Petroleum Council of Abu Dhabi , which oversees all operations in the country that affect the oil industry. Meanwhile, the market value has risen to an estimated five billion US dollars. By law of January 21, 2017 , IPIC merged with Mubadala Development Company to form Mubadala Investment Company .
The company's investments are mostly long-term.
