The International Horticultural Exhibition in 1897 was the second major horticultural exhibition to be held in Hamburg .

The exhibition in Hamburg was preceded by the International Horticultural Exhibition in 1869 , but the exhibition of 1897 was much larger. Their horticultural planning was done by Rudolph Jürgens , the son of Friedrich Jürgens , who designed the exhibition from 1869. Exhibitors from 22 nations took part and the exhibition lasted from May 1 to October 4, 1897.

The exhibition was followed by the Low German Garden Show in Hamburg in 1935 , the International Horticultural Exhibition in 1953 , the International Horticultural Exhibition in 1963 and the International Garden Show in 2013 .
