International Rosenzweig Society

The International Rosenzweig Society (IRG) was founded in memory of the important Jewish philosopher Franz Rosenzweig on March 28, 2004 at the second International Congress of Franz Rosenzweig's New Thinking at the University of Kassel . The company is based in Kassel, the city of Rosenzweig's birth.

Goal setting and organization

The society sees its main task in promoting the discussion of this outstanding thinker of the 20th century, as well as research on Rosenzweig's specific approach to existential philosophy, its integration into German philosophy and the peculiarity of his Jewish thinking and the challenge it poses to a Jewish one -to network Christian dialogue in the various countries and in the various specialist areas. Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarzik (Kassel) was elected the founding president of the company in 2004, together with the vice-presidents Norbert Samuelson (Tempe, AZ) and Martin Brasser (Lucerne).

Congresses and book series

The IRG organizes a major international congress every two years: 2004 in Kassel, 2006 in Jerusalem, 2007 in Pescara / Chieti, 2009 in Paris, 2012 in Toronto. The company also organizes specialist and work conferences around the world.

The IRG has been publishing the Rosenzweig yearbook and the book series Rosenzweigiana since 2006 . Contributions to Rosenzweig research .
