action

The student Rin Ogata ( 尾形 琳 , Ogata Rin ) inherited her mother's talent and, like her, becomes a gifted ballet dancer from an early age . However, three years before current events began, she broke her left foot during a performance. Since then, she stopped dancing and took an interest in acting while studying at the Musashino Art and Literature School ( 武 蔵 野 文 芸 大学 , Musashino bungei daigaku ; see Musashino Art School ). She comes across a club at the university whose mechanics and drivers take part in championship races with so-called ridebacks . Persuaded by Haruki Hishida ( 菱 田 春樹 , Hishida Haruki ) to do a test drive, she climbs up on the Fuego (Spanish for fire ) baptized rideback and, after what actually got out of control, inspires the club members with a sensational jump. Enthusiastic about the atmosphere, Rin often drives with Fuego and is later challenged to a duel by Tamayo Kataoka ( 片 岡 珠 代 , Kataoka Tamayo ), the reigning champion and driver of the club. However, neither of the two drivers can decide for themselves, as both retired during the race due to an accident.

Meanwhile, rumors are circulating that terrorists are using armed ridebacks to carry out attacks. At the same time, however, the Japanese police should also rely on a new generation of ridebacks in order not to be inferior to the terrorists. However, this introduction is very controversial. When Rin's best friend and roommate Shōko Uemura ( 上 村 し ょ う 子 , Uemura Shōko ) is involved in one of these attacks and taken hostage, Rin tries to free her. She succeeds in doing this, but by doing so she draws the attention of both the terrorists and the military to herself and Fuego.
