International Fritz Kreisler Competition

The International Fritz Kreisler Competition is a music competition for violin . The first event took place in 1979 in Vienna . The competition takes place every four years in the Wiener Konzerthaus from the end of September. The Fritz Kreisler Society is the organizer. The six finalists will receive staggered cash prizes between four and twelve thousand euros . The first three winners will play in the finals together with the Wiener Symphoniker and will receive further funding through concert appearances and CD recordings. First prize winners will receive a solo performance with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the Salzburg Festival, provided they are of the highest quality .

In 1980 it joined the World Federation of International Music Competitions .
