International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg

The International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg , engl. International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg (ICMC Hamburg) , is a chamber music competition for piano trio and string quartet in Hamburg . The competition will take place for the first time from September 18 to 27, 2009 and will be held every three years in future. The director of the competition is Niklas Schmidt, who teaches the cello at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and was a cellist in the renowned Trio Fontenay . The project manager of the competition is the Hamburg cultural manager Jan Wulf.

The specialist juries of the Hamburg International Chamber Music Competition consist of at least five jurors per evaluation group. The piano trio expert jury is led by Menahem Pressler , Beaux Arts Trio . The string quartet expert jury is headed by Valentin Erben, Alban Berg Quartet . Menahem Pressler chairs the overall jury.

Prices

String quartet:

  • 1st prize: 20,000 euros in prize money, concert tour, CD recording
  • 2nd prize: 10,000 euros in prize money
  • 3rd prize: 6,000 euros in prize money

Piano trio:

  • 1st prize: 15,000 euros in prize money, concert tour, CD recording
  • 2nd prize: 7,500 euros in prize money
  • 3rd prize: 4,500 euros in prize money

Special prices:

  • Haydn Prize of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation: 10,000 euros (awarded once)
  • Mendelssohn Prize of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation: 10,000 euros (awarded once)
  • NDR Culture Audience Award: of the North German Radio
