history

The roots of the International Militaria Magazine go back to the magazine INFO (Interesting News for Ordenskundler), which was published monthly by the Förderkreis Deutsches Ordensmuseum eV from 1978–1988 . A total of 60 issues of INFO appeared up to 1988, which were free of charge for the members of the support group Deutsches Ordensmuseum eV and the Wappen-Herold - German Heraldic Society eV . For cost reasons, the magazine was discontinued after the 60th issue.

Two years later, INFO was taken up again, but with a new name and a new concept. The new name: Internationales Militaria Magazin, with INFO. It has been published every two months since then. The first edition came out in 1990 as a booklet with the number 61. According to the responsible editor and publisher Jörg M. Hormann , the new concept was called; "German military topics should be brought closer to an international readership, and the (...) readers should learn a lot about the topic from European and overseas specialist journals" .
In 1993, Heinz Nickel, who had been the magazine's publisher since 1990 , became the magazine's editor. With this, the INFO disappeared from the title of the magazine with issue 73.

In 1996, with issue 83, the white background of the cover was given a color by the IMM, which changed with every issue from then on. Uwe Lautenschläger
has been welcoming readers with an editorial on the first page since 1998 . He has been involved in the design of the magazine for several years. So far, a special issue of the IMM has been published on the subject of submarine weapons, which has a length of 120 pages. (Status 2011)
