Bram internment camp

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The French internment camp Bram was located near the town of Bram in the Aude department . In addition to the Camp de Gurs internment camp , the Argelès-sur-Mer internment camp, the Saint-Cyprien internment camp , the Camp de Rivesaltes internment camp , the Le Vernet internment camp and the Septfonds internment camp, it was a camp for the internment of the remains of the Retirada , the Spanish republican People's Army (Ejército Popular de la República (EPR)). The situation in the Bram internment camp was very precarious. After a short time, most of the internees were transferred to other internment camps such as the Le Barcarès internment camp or the Camp de Rivesaltes internment camp . Many of the internees fled and formed the seeds of the Gallic resistance against the German occupation.

In March 2009 a memorial was erected on the site of the camp.
