The French internment camp Septfonds , established on February 25, 1939, was next to the internment camp Camp de Gurs , the internment camp Argelès-sur-Mer , the internment camp Saint-Cyprien , the internment camp Camp de Rivesaltes and the internment camp Le Vernet a camp for the internment of the remains of the Retirada , the Spanish Republican People's Army (Ejército Popular de la República, EPR) from Catalonia .

The Septfonts internment camp is located near Septfonds in the French department of Tarn-et-Garonne and was built by Édouard Daladier , the Prime Minister of France. The number of internees rose from March 5 to 12, 1939 from 2,500 refugees by March 20, 1939 to around 16,000. After the armistice was signed between France and the Third Reich on June 22, 1940, the French army used the camp to detain dangerous people.
