Intersegmental skin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The intersegmental skin is a soft and very thin cuticle that is only slightly sclerotized and connects the heavily sclerotized body segments of arthropods (especially insects , claw carriers , crustaceans and millipedes ). Therefore, it creates mobility of the body sections at the segment boundaries.

In the case of segments that are rigidly connected to one another, the intersegmental skin can be reduced to an intersegmental seam or segment seam.
