history
Interton was founded in 1962 by the brothers Hellmuth and Hans-Herbert Türk in Cologne . Initially, the company manufactured hearing aids, to which electronic pocket calculators were added in the early 1970s . From the mid-1970s, Interton also manufactured first-generation game consoles , including licensed versions of Magnavox devices. From mid-1976 the company developed the Interton VC 4000 programmable console. It came on the market in 1978 and is the only microprocessor-controlled game console in Germany. In mid-1983, the company left the video game industry and has since focused again on marketing hearing aids. The company moved to Bergisch Gladbach .
In September 2005 Interton was taken over by the Danish GN Store Nord , which continued the company name Interton as a brand name. In 2008, GN announced in a press release that Interton would be merged with the German headquarters of GN Hearing GmbH in Münster . According to the extract from the commercial register dated November 27, 2009, Interton Electronic Hörgeräte GmbH was merged with GN Hearing GmbH. The merger was entered in the commercial register of GN Hearing GmbH on December 3, 2009. On December 21, 2009, Interton's commercial register entry was deleted.
