The Journal of African Archeology is a journal dealing with archeology and prehistory of Africa .

The magazine has been published since 2003. Until 2016 it was published by Africa-Magna-Verlag in Frankfurt am Main , and since 2016 by Brill in Leiden . The articles in the journal are peer-reviewed .

Frequency of publication

The magazine is published every six months and in English . It is published by the Center for Interdisciplinary Africa Research (ZIAF) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University , Frankfurt am Main, Department for African Archeology and Archaeobotany . Personal editors are Peter Breunig and Sonja Magnavita . There is also an online edition.

Since 2007 there has been an accompanying series in which monographic works on the subject of the magazine are published. The series appears under the title Journal of African archeology monograph series .

Technical parameters

The magazine appears today with the ISSN  2191-5784 and previously had the ISSN  1612-1651 .
