The Intervitis Interfructa is an international technology trade fair for viticulture, cellar management and distillery technology, which takes place on the exhibition grounds of Messe Stuttgart . It is held every three years in spring. The organizer is the Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH in association with the German Wine Association eV (DWV) .
history
Today's fair has its origins in a viticulture congress with a viticulture exhibition, which the German Viticulture Association organizes at regular intervals in accordance with the statutes. From 1969 onwards the viticulture exhibition was called Intervitis. The fair has been held regularly in Stuttgart since 1972. In 1989 the trade fair was expanded to include the areas of fruit and fruit juice and has since been called Intervitis Interfructa. It was held every three years in spring until 2013. In 2014, the organizer DWV won the DLG as the specialist carrier for the topic of specialty crops. In 2016 and 2018 the fair took place every two years in autumn under the name "Intervitis Interfructa Hortitechnica - Technology for Wine, Fruit Juice and Special Cultures", most recently from November 27th to 30th, 2016. 25,458 visitors from 57 countries came to Stuttgart in 2016, where 412 companies from 22 nations exhibited on 46,300 square meters. In the future, the name will be Intervitis Interfructa again and the cycle will change to every three years and one date in spring.

The congress is also a political forum at which current issues from the international, European and national wine industry are discussed. Organizations in the industry use the congress for their own events, such as young winemakers, winegrowers, grapevine producers, oenologists and winegrowers' cooperatives. During the fair, there will be further conferences for companies specializing in specialty crops, the fruit juice industry and distilleries. New techniques are shown in action on a machine demonstration area. Part of the trade fair program is also a tasting workshop where visitors can experience the effects of alternative production methods on wine quality. Innovations are initiated with competitions and the awarding of awards. An innovation prize is awarded for new and further developments in viticulture. The "Architecture Prize Wine" is awarded at the fair for modern architecture in viticulture.
