Intras is a Swiss insurance company specializing in health insurance and has been part of the CSS Group since 2008 . Intras Kranken-Versicherung AG operates the compulsory health insurance under the Health Insurance Act and in 2010 had around 284,000 insured persons . Intras Versicherung AG is active in the business of supplementary health insurance, collective daily sickness benefits insurance and collective accident insurance.
history
The company was founded in Geneva in 1964 by the three private insurance companies Geneva , La Suisse and Vaudoise . With the opening of an office in St. Gallen, Intras expanded into German-speaking Switzerland for the first time in 1967 . 1973 the seat was moved to Carouge. After opening offices in Lausanne and Zurich in the 1980s, Intras expanded its branch network to all of Switzerland from the mid-1990s. In 2008 Intras joined the CSS Group and has been operating under the CSS Versicherung brand since 2011 .
