Inverloch is a Death Doom band founded in 2010 as d.USK .

history

In 2011 Inverloch was founded as Disembowelment - Coverband d.USK by two former members of Disembowelments. Drummer Paul Mazziotta and guitarist Matthew Skarajew performed live with guitarist Mark Cullen, bassist Tony Bryant and singer Ben James, initially with material from the disbanded Death Doom institution. The band was originally initiated to perform the album Transcendence into the Peripheral at the Roadburn Festival . After this and several other concerts in 2011, the group, renamed Inverloch, signed a contract with Relapse Records . In 2012 the first EP Dusk | was released Subside . Bryant left Inverloch in 2014 and was replaced by Chris Jordan. The album Distance | Collapsed 2016 released for Relapse. The album was mostly positively discussed and rated as a conceptual continuation of disembowelments.

style

Like the previous band Disembowelment, Inverloch are assigned to Death Doom and are mostly compared to the previous project by Mazziotta and Skarajew. On Metalnews the style is described as "ultra-slow Doom with a pronounced Funeral Doom touch [that] meets fast-paced, sometimes raging old-school Death Metal ". On Metal.de too, a comparison with disembowelment is attempted under a similar style description. “The grinding dark death, the worn and extravagant Funeral Doom, the lonely clean leads and the oppressive atmosphere resulting from it: all the characteristics that once defined the predecessor” can also be found at Inverloch.

Accordingly, the rhythm is described as changing, oscillating between the extremes of Funeral Doom on the one hand and Death Metal on the other. The guitar playing is particularly riff-emphasized and produced in a space-consuming manner. The singing would consist mainly of guttural growling and hissing.
