Bavarian clusters

The Bavarian State Government aims to strengthen the clusters in Bavaria with the so-called Cluster Offensive Bavaria . The task of this initiative is to increase the competitiveness of companies based in Bavaria, in particular small and medium - sized enterprises, and to promote know-how transfer in Bavaria. To this end, the cluster offensive organizes industry-specific events for companies. The networks between companies, universities, research institutions, service providers and investors are divided into 19 key sectors and technology fields.

criticism

Invest in Bavaria is regularly criticized for its one-sided orientation towards Upper Bavaria and especially the Munich area, in the opinion of its critics. An inquiry from the parliamentary group of Bündnis90 / Die Grünen revealed that of around 60 foreign companies that could be won for a settlement in Bavaria via Invest in Bavaria in 2010, only nine settled outside Upper Bavaria, in the three Franconian administrative districts together only three. This fact met with sharp criticism from the Lord Mayor of Erlangen, Siegfried Balleis and the opposition parties in 2012.

However, according to the track record of 2012, Invest in Bavaria was able to increase the proportion of successfully completed projects to 30 percent, especially in the Franconian government districts.

In the summer of 2018, a parliamentary request from the SPD parliamentary group leader in the Bavarian state parliament, Markus Rinderspacher , revealed that Invest in Bavaria is almost only setting up jobs in cities, but not in rural areas. As early as 2017, a request from Rinderspacher revealed that northern and eastern Bavaria are far underrepresented in Invest in Bavaria's results.

In 2019, the settlement agency in Bavaria created 3,856 new jobs and secured a further 700 jobs. Invest in Bavaria's investment projects came from a total of 29 countries of origin. There were new settlements in all seven administrative districts. Rural regions account for half of all new jobs.
