Ion I. Câmpineanu

Ion I. Câmpineanu (born October 10, 1841 in Bucharest , † November 15, 1888 there ) was a Romanian politician .

Life

Ion I. Câmpineanu was the son of Ion Câmpineanu (1798–1863), a well-known participant in the Romanian Revolution of 1848 . Ion I. Câmpineanu belonged to the Partidul Național Liberal party and held several political offices. In 1877 he held the office of Justice Minister for a few months before taking over the management of the Ministry of Finance. This was followed in 1878 by the position of Foreign Minister , again in 1880 as Minister of Finance and from 1883 he headed the Ministry of the Interior. In 1885 he moved again to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shortly thereafter ended his ministerial work. In 1887 he held the post of mayor of Bucharest for a few months before he was appointed first governor of the Romanian National Bank in 1888 . In the same year Câmpineanu died in Bucharest.
