Irene Diekmann

Irene Diekmann (* 1952 in Nauen ) is a German historian. Her research focus is German-Jewish history. From 2006 to 2014 she was deputy director of the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies and lecturer at the University of Potsdam .

Life

Diekmann studied history and German at the Potsdam University of Education from 1971 to 1975 . She then worked until 1977 and from 1981 to 1983 at the secondary school in Wustermark . In the meantime she was an aspirant at the PH Potsdam in the field of general history and received her doctorate in 1981. After teaching in Wustermark, she taught at the German-speaking high school in Chaskowo , Bulgaria, until 1986 . She then worked as a research assistant at the University of Education in Potsdam (since 1991 University of Potsdam). From 1993 to 1999 she was also managing director and since 1999 a member of the board of the Gesellschaft für Geistesgeschichte . In addition, she was Deputy Managing Director from 1993 to 1995 and Deputy Director of the Moses Mendelssohn Center from 2006 to 2014.
