Irene Diet (born February 6, 1959 in Leipzig ) is a German writer and anthroposophist .

Life

Diet studied history from 1977 to 1982 at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , graduating as a historian. In 1985 she left the GDR and continued her studies of history and philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris . Since 1989 she has been working as a freelance author, lecturer and seminar leader in Germany, Switzerland and Hungary. In 1996 she resigned from the Anthroposophical Society after a few years of membership . She has lived in Berlin since 2002. She is the co-founder of IGNIS Verlag.

She comes from a family known in recent history: her grandmother Gertrud Bobek (née Denner) met Friedrich Rittelmeyer , who later co-founded the Christian community , who made a great impression on her. As a geographer she worked for Albrecht Haushofer , son of Karl Haushofer , and it was in this context that she and her husband Felix Bobek , a physical chemist, were able to smuggle important documents out of the country. Felix Bobek was arrested and executed in Plötzensee in 1938.
