Irene Hecht-Cserhalmi
Irene Hecht-Cserhalmi Hungarian Cserhalmi Irén (born as Irene Hecht, September 12, 1871 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary ; died April 6, 1908 there ) was a Hungarian writer.
Life
Irene Hecht was the daughter of Salamon Hecht and Mária Friedmann-Cserhalmi. She married the writer Attila Gerő (1870–1916).
Hecht-Cserhalmi passed the teacher examination at the age of 16. In 1893 she wrote the essay The Influence of French Romanticism on Hungarian Literature . She has published essays in Hungarian and German magazines, including the New Pest Journal . She translated from German and French into Hungarian and from Hungarian into German. In 1897 she published an anthology of translated Hungarian poetry in Germany under the title Hungarian Poet Forest. With Gerö she founded the magazine Külföld .
