Irina Kircher

Irina Kircher (* 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German classical guitarist .

Kircher started playing guitar at the age of six and, as a nine-year-old preschooler at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, took lessons from Mario Sicca . In 1976 she received the federal prize at the Jugend musiziert competition . In 1979 she was awarded first prize for guitar in age group II (11–13 years) at the 16th national youth music competition .

From 1983 she studied with Antonio Lauro in Caracas for a year . Since 1984 she and her husband Alfonso Montes have formed the Montes / Kircher duo . The duo performed at numerous European festivals, gave more than 1,000 concerts and recorded eighteen records.

In addition, Kircher works as a soloist and has recently recorded albums with works by Joaquín Rodrigo , Joaquín Turina , Fernando Sor and Isaac Albéniz .
