Mario Sicca

Mario Sicca (born September 12, 1930 in Naples ) is an Italian guitarist ; he was a college teacher for classical guitar.

Sicca began his music studies in Naples, which he continued in Milan. He studied with Karl Scheit at the Vienna Music Academy , where he passed the concert qualification examination with distinction.

Together with the pianist and harpsichordist Rita-Maria Fleres, he performed in the Duo Italiano , which was best known as an interpreter of baroque and rococo music and recorded several albums. In 1965 he was offered a professorship at the Basel Music Academy in order to work as a professor at the State University of Music in Karlsruhe from 1968 . In 1981 he moved to the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts as a professor of classical guitar . His students include Andreas Martin , Michael Rodach , Ihsan Turnagöl and Irina Kircher .
