Irineu Riet Correa

Irineu Riet Correa Amaral (born February 8, 1945 in Castillos , Rocha ) is a Uruguayan politician .

Irineu Riet Correa, who is a member of the Partido Nacional and a veterinarian, studied from 1963 at the veterinary faculty of the Universidad de la República in Montevideo and completed his studies with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. In 1974 he moved to Brazil, where he settled in the state of Rio Grande do Sul . His first political activities with exiled Uruguayans originated here. In 1989 he returned to Uruguay. Here he ran for the office of Intendente des Departamentos for the Por la Patria movement in the Departamento Rocha , won the election and continued to exercise it until August 25, 1994. In May 2000, he successfully ran again for election to the Intendente of this department and then held the office until February 7, 2005.
